Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • 1BPosition Projection

07/28/2019 - College PREP - Washington, DC Aaron showed as a 1B/RHP at his latest Baseball Factory event. Defensively, his feet play well, and he moves with good body control to the baseball, displaying proper footwork around bag. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared/athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Fastball showed a range of 69-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/22/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Aaron is a coachable 1B/2B prospect who hustled all over the field during his time at the Omaha National World Series. In the field, Aaron shows efficient footwork and flashes the ability to finish plays. He fields the ball out in front of his body and keeps his throws accurate and strong through his target. Getting into position sooner can help Aaron improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated and is explosive driving his lower half through. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. Aaron can improve as a hitter by getting more extension through the ball. Overall, Aaron is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

04/07/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Bowie, MD Aaron is a solid 2B/1B who has a bright future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays smooth/clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft/sure but needs to present more out front. At 2B, feet are active but needs attack balls more to play through more with his body. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Aaron has a lot of potential and will get looks from collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
