11/13/2011 - College PREP - Shreveport, LA Aaron is a young SS/RHP that will graduate in 2014. Feet are active as he works to square balls up, shows clean hands with an accurate arm. He needs to work to play through balls, soften hands, and work to get rid of balls quicker to improve defensive grades. At the plate, Tarpley shows a tall, balanced setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed as he displays an aggressive approach. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. For hitting grades to improve, he needs to work to stay inside the ball and work to be on time with his stride. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to load more and transfer weight properly through his lower half. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 71-74 mph. Off speed pitches need further development to be quality pitches at the next level. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with early break as he needs to work on staying on top and finding a consistent release point to improve pitch. He slows his arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Command / control can be an issue as he needs to work on throwing more strikes with all his pitches. With 3 years to further develop, Aaron has abilities with time and room to improve.
