Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SSPosition Projection

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Abraham is a talented switch-hitting SS with nice upside potential. He has a sturdy, live frame and a well-coordinated swing from both sides of the plate. His LH stroke is a bit more consistent and provides more pop, but he is loose and competent from both sides. As a defender he has light, active feet and polished actions. He takes quality routes to the ball and plays with an air of confidence. Overall, this is an exciting 2017 grad to follow closely.

11/29/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Davie, FL Sequera stands at 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds with a solid build. At the plate, he is a capable switch-hitter with a little more bat speed and pop as a right-handed hitter. He hit from a balanced approach and reached good positions throughout his stroke. He started square and stayed square through his stride, got his hands into a good launch position, and was ready to hit on time. He was able to rotate his core well through contact, allowing for ideal extension out front. Defensively, he stayed low to the ground and took good angles to the ball. His hands were out front and on time, allowing for a sure-handed play on the ball. He would benefit from a quicker release, as his ability to make throws is more advanced than his pure arm strength. Overall, a talented and capable all-around player.

05/26/2014 - National Tryout - Jupiter, FL Abraham showed good defensive skills during his last workout in Jupiter. At SS, Abraham has quick feet, sure hands, and he works around the ball well. He has proper footwork, works the double play quickly, and he throws accurately across the diamond. At the plate, Abraham showed to be equally as good from both sides of the plate. He tracks the ball well, shows good balance, and he makes solid, consistent contact.

01/17/2014 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Abraham is an athletic SS that has a lot of upside defensively and offensively. In the infield he has quick feet, sure hands, and fields out front with the proper fielding position. He is aggressive to the ball and plays through well with the proper footwork. He stays under control with his body and has a quick exchange with his throws. At the plate Abraham is a switch hitter that has a good approach and tracks the ball well from both sides of the plate. He has a smooth load, good balance, and uses his lower half well. He is a contact hitter that finds the barrel consistently. He stays in the middle of the field with his approach and can hit opposite field well with both swings.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Abraham has made great progress in his game. He brings his all to the field everyday with energy, making those around him work harder. He excels offensively where he shows plus power. He drives the barrel through the contact point and shows pop to the gaps. At the event, he went 3 for 6 with a triple, 2 singles and 5 RBI's. Defensively, he moves well from right to left and plays through the ball well. He has a quick exchange and delivers accurate throws across the diamond. Sequera communicates well and takes charge in the INF. This talented player is only a freshman and has a bright future in the game.

05/27/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Jupiter, FL Abraham is a solid SS with average size. Defensively, Abraham has soft / sure hands, quick feet, and he fields in an athletic position. He has accuracy across the diamond with life and carry. At the plate, Abraham has a square set-up, good balance, and he uses his lower 1/2. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Play lower
2. Earlier glove
Offense
1. Let ball travel
2. Rhythm
3. Bat speed

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
