Official Scouting Report

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Adam is a coachable player who can make adjustments quickly. On the mound, this lefty is aggressive, filling up the zone with strikes and challenging hitters to swing the bat. He maintains good tempo and works at his pace. FB tops out at 73 mph while showing some sinking action. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed helping to create deception. Curveball shows to be his best pitch with 1/7 shape as he can throw it for strikes in any count. He has a solid pick-off move with quick footwork and keeps runners close. In the OF, Adam takes good angles to work into position behind the fly-ball. He secures the ball with 2-hands and has a clean exchange to throw. Gaining more ground with a crow-hop will help to get more into his throws. As a hitter, Adam displays a tall stance with a good load. He swings against a firm front side, connects and creates good extension through contact. Working to swing on a shorter/more direct path with more bat speed will help to increase power. Adam has a solid all-around skill-set that should provide success in this his junior year. He will toe the rubber, throw strikes and give his team a chance every time his number is called.

06/18/2017 - College PREP - Kansas City, MO Adam is a thin, athletic LHP/OF who will graduate in 2019. As an OF, Adam has active pre pitch movement, creates angles on ground balls, and squares himself up to throw after catching the ball. Adam can improve as an OF by adding an active crow hop to gain more velocity on his throws. At the plate, Adam has a balanced stance and attacks the inside part of the ball, leading to line drives. If he continues to work on using his lower half and taking a level swing, Adam will become a more complete hitter. On the bump, Adam gathers over the rubber and gets to a good balance point. He stays in line with the plate and his delivers the pitch on time. Adam can become a more consistent pitcher by finishing over his front side. With two more years to develop, Adam has the time and potential to further improve his skills on the diamond.

11/10/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Adam is an athletic right handed hitting, LHP and OF. Intangibly, Adam showed his love for the game through his coachability and work ethic, as he continuously wanted to get better each time he stepped on the diamond. At the plate, he showed great ability to make consistent contact. His swing was short, compact and direct. Hands worked on a level and direct path to the ball, as he kept his head still throughout his swing. Loading his hands slightly sooner, then exploding his hips to the pitcher, will help with timing and power at the plate. Defensively, he played aggressively and attacked balls, as he worked behind and through them with active footwork. His throws were consistently on target, arm was accurate and quick. On the mound, his good control (30-48 pitches for strikes) was the result of his clean and simple mechanics, as he found strong balance, kept his eyes/hips/glove direct to his target and finished out in front. He featured 3 pitches from a high 3/4 arm angle including a tailing 58-61 mph fastball, a curveball that showed 2-8 movement and a changeup which was often thrown for strikes and thrown with FB arm speed. Overall, Adam is a well rounded player, who's coachability and passion for the game will carry him a long way towards becoming the best player he can be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
