Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Bleday improved his defensive grades in the OF, now showing superior abilities. He reads balls well off the bat, gets great jumps, and uses his quick / athletic feet well in tracking down balls in the OF. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, accuracy, and on line carry into his target. At the plate, Adam shows a direct path with his quick hands to the ball. He loads well and shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. He needs to work on squaring his body up more and work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields to improve hitting grades. On the mound, his fastball was in the 82 mph range with breaking ball displaying downward tilt and tight spin. LHPs are always in demand and Bleday has a great feel for pitching when he's on the mound. He has a solid foundation and should take off as his velocity increases and he develops a change. At present, he projects as a 2-way player at the right program.

10/27/2010 - Arizona Fr/So Fall Classic - 2010 Arm strength has improved as he topped out at 84 mph on the mound. Fastball showed a range of 81-84 mph with tailing action on a downhill plane. Breaking ball also showed improvment displaying 1/7 shape with tight spin and late bite. He attacks hitters as he is aggressive with his fastball but will change speeds when needed. In the OF, he continues to use his foot speed to track down balls and is very fundamentally sound. Offensively, he showed solid power at the plate, creating backspin on a few balls. Hands are quick and he shows a solid feel for the barrel. He was 3 for 9 with a 2B at the event. Bleday is a hard worker that plays the game the right way!

06/18/2010 - USA Baseball 16U Championships (FL) - 2010 Bleday continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities across the board. Foot speed has improved as he cut 3/10th off his 60 time, now a 7.10 runner. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in taking proper routes angles in tracking down balls in the OF. Arm strength is a plus as he shows life, carry, and accuracy on his throws. Offensively, Adam shows a level swing path, keeping hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He is a solid 2 hole type hitter as he shows a feel for the barrel with bat control. Power numbers will increase as he develops more overall body strength. At the event, he was 4 for 10 with 2 RBI. On the mound, he showed his best velocity as he topped out at 82 mph with fastball showing a range of 78-82 mph with arm side run on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball displays tight spin with a 2/7 shape. Changeup shows a solid feel for with arm side run and sinking action and needs to throw the pitch more. Control can be an issue but should be fine with more reps. Adam best tool may be his makeup as he is very coachable and willing to make adjustments as he shows a feel for the game.

08/05/2009 - Pirate City World Series - Session 2 Adam is a young, 2013 graduate that shows as a two-way player in the OF and on the mound as a LHP with an average frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is average and he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active and aggressive in taking proper routes and angles in tracking down balls in the OF. Defensive abilities are slightly above average. Arm strength is average and he must get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. At the plate, Bleday has slightly above average abilities with average power. He tracks the ball well and shows a feel for the barrel. Power numbers will increase as he learns to transfer weight more efficiently through the swing. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-78 mph on a downhill plane that creates tough angles on hitters. Off speed pitches are average and shows flashed of being quality pitches as he improves. Stock on the mound will rise as more arm strength is developed. With 4 years to further develop, Adam has potential to be a solid player at the next level as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
