Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

12/19/2009 - Christmas Camp and Tournament #1 Adam again showed well during his time at Pirate City. He has a big frame and improved in many areas since we last saw him 8/09. At 3B, Adam's hands play well and his arm is strong and accurate. He has a good pre-pitch routine and makes the plays consistently. As Adam continues to grow and become stronger, it will be important for him to work on core strength and body balance. On the mound, Adam's delivery, control, and arm action all improved. He is around the plate with all of his pitches and will get better. Adam's delivery is online toward the plate and he makes good use of his lower 1/2. If Adam can loosen up his actions, and work to repeat his delivery, effectiveness on the mound could improve. At the plate is where Adam showed the most improvement. His bat speed is solid and he creates backspin on balls hit into the gap. Adam has pull side pop and power in his bat, and can further improve by working the baseball to all fields and work on hitting the outside pitch.

08/11/2009 - College PREP - Bear (Wilmington), DE Adam is a young two-way player on the mound and at 3B with solid, soft body that shows projection as he continues to polish and firm up. Foot speed is well below average and he must get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active in coming to get and playing through balls through a low approach. Glove action is soft, clean, and sure in making the plays. Hands and feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Defensive abilities are solid average at 3B. Arm strength is solid average showing life, carry, and accuracy across the diamond. He will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. At the plate, hitting abilities are average with near average power. He shows some strength in his swing but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving with instruction and adjustments. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-79 mph. Off speed pitches are near average and need further development to be quality pitches at the next level. With 2 years to further, Adam has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
