ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

05/24/2015 - College PREP - Providence, RI Adam continues to show well on the diamond. With the bat, this RHH shows a balanced approach with smooth actions. He has fluid rhythm to load and waits back for his pitch. He tracks the ball into the zone, waiting for his pitch. Swing is quick to and through the zone as he squares the ball up consistently. At SS, he shows quick/active footwork with athletic actions. He moves through the ball from right to left as he gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. On the bump, he has repeatable mechanics working on a downhill plane. Arm works loose/free as he stays on top well. FB tops out at 78 mph as he keeps the ball down in the zone. Changeup has sink & tail as he throws it with FB arm speed. Adam is a versatile player who will make an impact on the diamond.

11/17/2013 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT Adam is a skilled 2-way player as a SS/RHP. Defensively at SS, he displays good prep and smooth rhythm, working around the ground ball playing from right to left. He can make the tough backhand play fielding the ball cleanly and firing accurate throws across the diamond. At the plate, this righty shows a upright stance with a simple approach. He gets good extension through the ball and drives it to all fields. On the mound, Duarte maintains good tempo and works at his pace. He has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot and free arm action. FB shows some arm-side run and is kept down in the zone. CB has 11/5 shape as he works it on the outer 1/2 of the plate. Increased velocity will come with more lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber. Adam is only a sophomore who has a high ceiling.

07/17/2013 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 Adam is an athletic player that has great potential as a next level shortstop. Throughout the week in Cape Cod, he shined through as one of the top performers both offensively and defensively. At the dish, he showed a good bat path, barrel delivery and extension through contact. His simple approach and clean actions give his swing a good chance to hit higher level pitching. Offensively, Adam is a true shortstop with good range, glove presentation, and a clean fluid arm. On the bump, Adam threw one inning of strikes with an ability to keep hitters off-balance and get outs. Currently, Adam projects best at SS with clean actions, true range and an ability to hit.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
