ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

07/16/2016 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 Adam continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved, displaying smooth/fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he presents on time and out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. At the plate, he shows an open/athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. On the mound, he works through a low side arm slot. Fastball shows a range of 69-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Adam is a hard worker who still has a few years to progress before he heads into college.

06/30/2014 - National Tryout - Troy (Albany), NY Adam continues to progress in his game. On the bump, his 3-pitch mix is effective. He shows good mound presence and repeats his delivery well. FB ranges shows run and tail as he fills up the zone and throws strikes. At 1B, he moves well around the bag and maintains plus body control. With the bat, this big (6'0"/160) RHH shows a solid setup with a strong base. He utilizes his big frame to generate pop off of the barrel. Evans is a hard worker who projects well.

09/21/2013 - Infield Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Adam is a big strong kid with upside at the corners. Adam tends to be passive, but he showed well when he was aggressive. When he is aggressive to the baseball he works through it well, and shows the ability to play both corners, but when he sits back and lets the ball play him he is going to limit his range, and versatility. With Adam's size now, he will improve as he grows into his body, but he needs to work on attacking the baseball and not letting the baseball play him.

09/15/2012 - Pitching/Catching Accelerated Training Weekend (Commuter) (Ages 12-14) Adam is a tall, thick right-handed pitcher with a lot of upside on the mound. Adam throws with good extension and finishes well, this is what gives him such outstanding movement on his fastball. His fastball has late, heavy movement with run and sink. Adam also throws a curveball and change-up with near fastball arm speed. Adam needs to continue to work on extending and driving his lower half explosively out of the balance point. If Adam continues to work on his mechanics and adds more explosion in his lower half, he will be a very successful pitcher throughout his career.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
