12/27/2010 - Christmas Camp and Tournament 2010 - Session 2 Gutierrez showed similar abilities that we had previously seen in Marlborough, MA. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.13. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls in the OF as he reads balls well of the bat. He needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but needs to get on a long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength with carry. Offensively, Adam shows a balanced approach that allows his hands to attack the baseball through an aggressive approach. He is coachable and shows a strong desire to be the best he can be.

10/24/2010 - College PREP - Marlborough (Boston), MA Adam is a young, thin, athletic, OF who will graduate in 2012. Defensively, Adam has soft hands, playable feet, and he works to get behind the ball well. He fields the ball athletically, on the glove side on the glove side, and he makes plays. Adam has a long arm action, and throws with average arm strength, accurately to his target. Adam can get better in the OF by getting more on top of his throws and adding arm strength. At the plate, Adam has a square set-up, good balance, and he tracks the ball well. He has a loose grip, a fast / quick bat, and he can make hard contact to all fields. Adam swings in good rhythm and has a line drive approach. Adam will need to improve his rhythm for offensive grades to get better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
