Official Scouting Report

10/07/2018 - College PREP - Georgetown, TX Adam continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a tremendous future on the diamond. He did show at 2B for the first time at the event. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying excellent hitting / power potential through a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and aggressive as he attacks balls in the zone. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel, creating backspin and carry. The baseball explodes off the bat when centered. In the MIF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to attack more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. He throws a slider that resembles breaking ball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Adam is a tall, lean RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is excellent as indicated by his 60 time of 6.71. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point. Fastball showed a range of 75-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. With 2 years to further develop, Adam has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
