07/12/2009 - Team One South 2009 Adam continues to excel as an above-average player both at the plate and behind the plate. At the plate, demonstrated good preparation and rhythm before contact. Had a free and easy swing that produced excellent bat speed. This allowed him to hit missiles to both gaps. Behind the plate, had a clean exchange that showed some quickness. Pop times will continue to improve as he stays low to throw. Showed good athletic actions to get into proper throwing position for throws to 2B.

05/22/2009 - E-ACR - Maryland 1 Adam improved to a Class 2. Excelled at each station during the workout. Improved 60-time, velocity, pop-time, receiving grade, blocking grade, and hitting grades. Worked out in the OF for the first time. Behind the plate, showed excellent footwork and arm action to get ball to 2B. Had quick, clean exchange with carry on throws. Very polished while receiving and makes it look easy. Gets around ball with soft hands and firm wrist to stick it. Had textbook form to block balls. Good angles with great athleticism to recover ball. Centered and deaden balls right in front of him. At the plate, had good bat speed with barrel accuracy that produced gap power. Showed quick hands with direct path to hitting zone. Utilized his lower half very well and stayed balance throughout swing. In the OF, was very aggressive to balls while taking proper angles to play through and get behind. Throws had good life and carry to target.

01/16/2009 - Under Armour Preseason All America - 2009 Adam has all the right stuff that coaches look for. He is athletic and can play defense very well. Behind the plate, Adam has a lightning arm with accuracy and quick feet. He gets down quickly when blocking balls in the dirt and he receives the ball well. At the plate, Adam has quick strong hands and a level swing. He has power to the gaps and can go the other way. He can get a little too aggressive at the plate at times, but he has a feel for it. Right now, his defense is what sets him apart from other players.

08/30/2008 - ACR-E - Maryland - 9 Adam had an outstanding workout with us. He improved his velocity, pop-times, receiving, and blocking grades. While receiving behind the plate, had nice low target with soft hands and quiet body actions. He can widen his base a little. His athletic feet allowed him to get in good throwing position to 2B and have quick exchange. Would like to see him stay low to throw instead of standing then throwing. While blocking, took great angles while centering and deadening ball. Very athletic behind the plate. At the plate, had a quiet approach that allowed him to be quick to hitting zone. Had bat speed with the ability to hit lines drives. Used his lower half effectively throughout the swing. Has a repeatable swing that will only get better as he matures physically.

06/06/2008 - BWI World Series - 2008 During BWI WS, went 2 for 8. Behind the plate, made accurate throws to 2B. Times will improve with quicker exchange and proper throwing position. Throws from open position which doesn't allow getting hand on top of ball consistently. Shows firm hands when receiving. While blocking, shows great form by going down first and ability to take good angles and center ball. Would like to see him eliminate the use of his hands to get back up. At the plate, had square approach with level swing that produced bat speed. Use lower half well with the ability to have good transfer.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
