Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/1BPosition Projection

10/06/2019 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Adrian is an OF/1B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the OF, Adrian shows efficient footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He fields with a firm glove and makes a clean exchange. He gains momentum well on his throws, working to keep them accurate to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Adrian improve defensively. At 1B, Adrian shows active footwork and moves well to the ball. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws consistently accurate to his target. Adrian can improve as a 1B by staying low when moving to throw. At the plate, this switch hitter shows a solid swing from both sides. He sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. Maintaining center balance throughout his swing can help Adrian improve as a hitter. Overall, Adrian is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Adrian continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter and has improved his power potential from both sides. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. Lower half works well through the swing and he stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields from both sides of the plate. At the event, he had a great tournament going 4 for 6 with a 2B and HR. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but needs to square up and play through balls more with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/16/2018 - College PREP - Madison (NYC), NJ Adrian is a thick, solid 1B who will graduate in 2020. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft and firm but needs to present earlier and more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls through a low approach. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Adrian has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
