11/26/2023 - National Showcase - St. Petersburg (Tampa), FL Aidan continues to shine on the diamond with his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm to work clean/quick to the plate. He utilizes his body well and shows a good mound presence. Fastball showed a range of 80-81 mph. Slider is hard and displays 10/4 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/09/2023 - National Showcase - Jupiter, FL We liked what we saw in our second viewing of 2025 grad Aidan McDonald. His size/stature makes him well-suited for both pitching and the corners. On the mound, fastball velocities ranged from 80-82mph which is up 2mph since we saw him 6 months ago. His increase in velocity is attributed to his added lower half body strength going up from a 7'7" broad jumper to an 8'0" broad jumper. He showed tight spin on his slider that sat 71-72mph and his changeup showed sink sitting 73-75mph. As a first baseman, he displays clean glove work and proper foot work. Additional agility drills are recommended to get even lighter on his feet. At the plate, he makes consistent contact with exit velocities as high as 87mph. With two years of high school still in front of him, McDonald should garner interest from the collegiate ranks.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
