12/29/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Gambrills, MD AJ continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills sow as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.09 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the ball quicker. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half work well and shows a feel for the barrel through a direct / compact swing.

At the plate, AJ starts in an athletic and closed stance. He's aggressive to the ball and looks to drive the ball to the pull side. He needs to continue to create rhythm in his hands, load them into the drive position, and attack the inside part of the ball. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
