09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament AJ continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities are now solid as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking balls down. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

06/23/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Frederick, MD AJ is a C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, AJ sits in a good primary stance and tracks the ball into his glove well. He tucks his chin and keeps dirt balls in front of him while blocking. He shows good footwork to throw and keeps his throws accurate to the 2B bag. Maintaining his balance when moving to block can help AJ improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and leads well with his lower half, driving the ball to his pull side. AJ can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, AJ is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

12/20/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) AJ is a coachable C/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. Behind the plate, AJ sits in an athletic stance and tracks the ball into his glove well. He makes a quick exchange and gains ground on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through the 2B bag. He moves on time to block and centers the ball in the middle of his body. Loosening his arm action to throw can help AJ improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance with his hands held high. He rotates his core well and produces solid gap to gap pop. AJ can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, AJ is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

10/26/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching/Catching & Offensive Skills Combined Weekend (Ages 14-18) AJ is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. Behind the plate, AJ sits in a low stance and receives with a quiet glove. He gains ground when throwing and throws with a loose arm. He works to block the baseball and centers the ball in the middle of his body. Smoothening his exchange can help AJ improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and hits against a strong front side, driving to his pull side. AJ can improve as a hitter by taking a level swing path. Overall, AJ is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

02/23/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18) AJ is an athletic and talented 2021 prospect that was eager to learn and made several adjustments throughout the weekend. At the plate, AJ starts in an athletic and closed stance. He's aggressive to the ball and looks to drive the ball to the pull side. He needs to continue to create rhythm in his hands, load them into the drive position, and attack the inside part of the ball. Creating backside rotation with his lower half and keeping his head down at contact will allow him to stay behind the ball. AJ will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

06/24/2018 - College PREP - Columbia, MD AJ is a lean C/OF who will graduate in 2021. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.70. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed a range of 2.40-2.60 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he tracks balls well through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to get down sooner. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. With 3 years to further develop, AJ has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
