AJ did a fine job of making his presence felt at the 2009 TeamOne West Showcase. He excelled on the mound and did a fine job as a defensive outfielder. On the hill he showed a good, cutting fastball, touching 88 mph on the radar gun. His command on his curveball and change up were good as he threw them with effectiveness. His arm stoke showed a slight pause in it, perhaps causing him to miss up at times. With some polish and smoothening, he may gain better location with all pitches, giving him the ability to pitch at the knees, consistently with all three pitches. Overall, AJ shows a projectable body and an even greater enthusiasm for the game, which did not go unnoticed by many college coaches in attendance.
