Official Scouting Report

07/07/2019 - College PREP - Lowell (Boston), MA AJ showed nice all around abilities on the mound during his last workout with The Factory. Velocity increased to 76 MPH, as he showed a clean arm circle and a balanced delivery. AJ separates his hands on time, he gets good extension on his pitches, and he finishes in a compete position. He is a strike thrower with a nice CB. Continuing to add arm strength will help abilities continue to get better. At the plate, AJ has a balanced set-up, he loads well, and swings on plane. He swings a level stick and uses his lower body. Work on timing and barrel accuracy can help hitting grades spike.

07/24/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Rindge, NH AJ is a talented RHP/OF prospect who has a long, projectable build. On the mound, AJ pitches with a compact, repeatable delivery and good tempo. He keeps his eyes on his target with balanced, on-time mechanics. AJ throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action and extends through his release. He stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. He does a nice job using his lower half and finishing with his chest over his front knee. His split-finger is deceptive and his curveball shows medium break. In the field, AJ plays with quick, fluid footwork and agile actions covering good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball in an athletic position. AJ has a quick, clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball showing consistently strong throws. Offensively, AJ has a tall setup with a firm front side. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and square stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. AJ has an on-plane swing path and produces square contact. He has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Overall, AJ is a versatile prospect who has a bright future on the diamond.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament AJ is a talented and hardworking 2-way prospect. In the OF, AJ has an active prep step and reads the ball off the bat well. He works behind the ball and creates momentum with his lower half when throwing. At the plate, AJ loads his hands back into the drive position and stays balanced through contact. He attacks the ball with his lower half and drives the ball to all fields. On the bump, AJ gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has good tempo in his delivery. AJ will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) AJ is a lean, athletic RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls playing through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall / open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he continues to shine through a sound / repeatable delivery. Fastball shows a range of 71-73 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, AJ has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
