AJ is a thin and athletic 2023 2-way prospect with a good attitude. At 2B, AJ makes the routine play and makes accurate throws around the horn. He needs to continue to be on time with his pre step, present a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. At the plate, AJ starts in a relaxed stance, has loose hands, and has a middle approach. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position, create backside drive with his lower half, and keep his head down at contact. On the bump, AJ has good mound presence and competes on every pitch. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and works downhill. He has a good stride length and works over the front side. His fastball tops out at 68mph and his curveball has good depth. AJ will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14)
AJ is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect. At SS, AJ works from the ground up, plays through the back hand, and makes accurate throws. Having active pre-pitch movement will increase his first step to the ball. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, AJ starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and stays balanced through contact. He has good pitch recognition and uses the whole field. He needs to rotate his back hip into the ball and be aggressive on the fastball. On the bump, AJ gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and throws downhill. He cuts his fastball arm side to the catcher and has a 11-5 breaking ball. Developing a change up will allow him to work off the fastball more consistently. Repetition will build his confidence. AJ will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
