02/06/2022 - All-In Membership - Pensacola, FL AJ is a solid switch hitting catcher who will graduate in 2022. Defensively, AJ has a presentable glove, active footwork, and he sits in low and athletically. He presents his glove well, lets the ball travel deep, and blocks softly. AJ has a quick/clean exchange, and throws with carry and momentum to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.28 seconds. Added arm strength and accuracy will help catching get even better. At the plate, AJ has an open stance, good balance, and he loads his hands back well. He has a level swing, he can hit to all fields, and he uses his lower body. AJ is currently a better hitter from the right side. Hitting can improve with work on timing and with added bat speed.

02/04/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Mobile, AL AJ is a thin 2-way player who catches and plays 2nd base. Behind the plate, AJ holds a low target, his feet are active, and his hands are soft. He sits in well, has a clean exchange, and a short/accurate arm to his target. At the plate, AJ moves well to the ball, he makes the routine plays, and has accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, AJ has an open stance, a proper load, and he finds the barrel of the bat. He has some bat speed, creates leverage, and makes consistent contact. AJ can improve skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
