06/29/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Akira is a corner infielder who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he has plus lateral range, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws zipping across the diamond. At the plate - he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an absolute hack - crushing the ball to the deep parts of the park (exit velocity = 87 mph). A projectable 3B - Akira will play at a very high level and make an immediate impact.

10/14/2015 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Mitchell continues to show improvements as he has improved his foot speed, running his best 60 time to date. He utilizes his quick feet well in his lateral movements, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process, displaying a soft /sure glove. He shows off his athletic abilities on the slow roller play as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, displaying well above average arm strength. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path and aggressive approach as he's looking to swing it and jump on 1st pitch FB's. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Akira is a strong/projectable player who can make things happen when he steps onto the diamond.

03/08/2015 - National Tryout - Atlanta, GA Mitchell continues to show as 3B and continues to show improvements in his game with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.25 run. At 3B, defensive grades are now well above average as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he works through a strong foundation. Hands are clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally, displaying range and has improved his arm strength with throws displaying life, carry, and accuracy. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter and has improved his hitting abilities from the right side. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and have strength in his swing from both sides with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Mitchell has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

10/26/2014 - National Tryout - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Mitchell continues to show solid play in his baseball abilities with a lot of potential. At 3B, feet are active as he moves well laterally to both sides and displays clean hands. He works to square balls up but needs to attack more and play through while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate with carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter but currently projects slightly better from the left side. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed as he works through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields.

03/02/2014 - National Tryout - Greenville, SC Akira is a switch hitting 2017 corner infielder with an athletic/lean frame - 6'/175 lbs. At first, he showed good hands and feet that play well around the bag and was soft to field. He maintained the glove work at third, and worked around the ball to make routine plays. He threw accurately with some carry, but needs to work on quickening his release. Offensively, he showed well from both sides of the plate, with perhaps more hit ability from the left side. He squared the ball up and was direct with the barrel. In all - Akira has time to strengthen and build on his mechanics to be a high level high school player.

07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Akira plays corner infield and showcased he has the ability to play both first base and third base. In the infield he has soft/sure hands, quick feet, an athletic fielding position, and he plays through the ball well. He has a quick exchange and makes accurate throws with a loose arm action. At the plate he has an athletic setup, good load, centered balance, and he uses his lower half well. He has fast bat speed for his age and barreled the baseball up well during games driving the ball from gap to gap. Akira has lots of upside with his skills and looks like he has a bright future in the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
