Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Alan improved on the mound with all of his pitches during his time at Pre-Season. His FB now tops out at 86 mph, showing some run and slight action. He remains balanced and stays compact throwing strikes with all of his pitches. He has good rhythm, level shoulders, and he lands square. Offensively, he has a simple approach and gets his lower 1/2 thru. Hitting abilities will improve if he can avoid the arm bar and loosen up his actions. He projects best on the mound for the next level.

11/20/2011 - College PREP - Houston, TX Alan is a tall and thick RHP/1B who has a strong lower 1/2. On the mound, he throws 4 different pitches from a 3/4 arm slot. His FB ranges from 78-84 mph and his CB has 11/5 shape with gradual action. He also throws a changeup and splitter as well. If he can complete his finish and avoid throwing across his body, mound effectiveness can improve. Offensively, he has a low/square setup, solid load, and short stride. He has a quiet approach and solid pop to the pull side. He has strong hands, fast bat speed and makes hard contact. If he can relax his grip and avoid spinning off, hitting abilities can improve. Defensively at 1B, he has good size, active feet, and he is sure handed. He has good body control and stays low when fielding the groundball. Defensive abilities can improve if Alan can quicken his exchange and quicken his feet. Alan is a solid all-around player and will get looks to play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
