11/16/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Alan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 3.39. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone but needs to present a lower target. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to get down sooner and improve lateral movement. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/24/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Scranton, PA Alan is a (2024-grad) at C. Behind the plate, he sits in a low/athletic position and presents a good target. He gets to a solid blocking position on wild pitches and follows through with his throws down to 2B. With the stick, this RHH displays a square setup with fluid rhythm to a load. He drives pitches from gap to gap and stays balanced after contact. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
