  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

09/12/2021 - All-In Membership - Pearland, TX Alec is a SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame, with long levers, athletic build with strength present and room to fill throughout. At SS, he shows good rhythm to his actions and a good pre-pitch routine with active feet. Creates good fielding angles and ability to play behind/through the ball. Showed ability to pick out hops, with some softness to his hands, and fields the ball out front with eyes behind his glove. Throws from multiple arm slots, with accurate/on-line throws across the diamond, and an arm velocity up to 88mph. Showed good touch on his DP feeds. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. Works with good direction down the mound and rotates to target. Has simple and repeatable delivery, with deception to delivery, and has huge upside. 4 pitch mix with all pitches coming out of the same window. Throws a FB that sits 79-80mph with sinking action on 2-seam, a breaking ball with 9/3 shape and tight spin, a slider, and a CH he throws with FB arm speed with some movement in the strike zone. CB was best pitch during his bullpen. Hits from the right side with an upright and open stance. Has good rhythm to his swing and hits into a firm front side. Simple swing with a good bat angle and gets extended through the baseball. Sprayed line drives consistently to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 84mph during his round of BP. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we can see this 2-way prospect having opportunities to play at the next level.

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS) Alec continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At SS, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 78 mph. Fastball showed a range of 75-78 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with tight spin and sharp break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

11/15/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Deer Park (Houston), TX Alec is an athletic RHP/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth/athletic actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Hands/feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry (82 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77 mph. Fastball shows good sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Slider is harder with tight spin and short break. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 3 years to further develop, Alec has potential with time and room to improve his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
