12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Alec is an athletic and talented 2020 catching prospect that came ready to compete during the week. Behind the dish, Alec starts in a balanced primary and has a slightly staggered but athletic secondary stance. He presents a big target, works behind the ball, and is strong receiver. He leads with his glove to block but needs to continue to control the ball with his chest. He has a good arm but and makes accurate throws. He needs to continue to exchange the ball in front of his body, create momentum in his lower half, and quicken his release. At the plate, Alec starts in a tall stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets his front foot down on time. He creates backside drive with his lower half, rotates his hips into the ball, and drives the ball gap to gap. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and flatten out the barrel at contact. Alec will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
