Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

07/19/2019 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Alec is a smart and coachable SS/RHP. In the field Alec shows quick and active feet with a plus first step to the ball. He shows good range to the glove and backhand side fielding the ball out front. His exchanges are quick and clean with a loose arm action and accurate throws. Working on arm strength with a long toss program will be a big key for Alec. At the dish, Alec sets up in a slightly open stance with comfortable hands and good rhythm. He rotates well against a firm front side showing a compact swing that works good contact to all fields. On the mound Alec shows confidence working from the stretch. He accelerates toward the plate well keeping his stride in line and allows the back leg to rotate through. As Alec continues to grow and get stronger his game will improve.

06/09/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Medford (Boston), MA Alec is a young, athletic, 2-way player who pitches and plays SS. On the mound, Alec is a good athlete, he separates his hands on time, and has good direction toward home plate. He works down in the zone and throws strikes with all of his pitches. At SS, Alec has active feet, he moves with agility to the ball, and he fields in a low/square position. He has a presentable glove, a clean exchange, and he throws with consistency across the diamond. Offensively, Alex has a tall set-up, good balance, and he strides toward the pitcher. He has fast bat speed and works the middle of the field. Alec can continue to get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
