11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Alec continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, power potential has improved through an open, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 3B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a very hard worker.

10/07/2017 - FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend (14-18) Alec is a RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, this righty gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm action as he extends through on his release and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Alec shows a four pitch mix with his four seam fastball topping out at 76mph. Two seam fastball tops out at 76mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 67-68mph with late 11-5 break. Changeup ranges from 71-73mph with good cutting action as he throws with fastball arm speed. Alec can improve as a pitcher by opening up his front side in his delivery. Overall, Alec is a solid RHP prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the mound.

07/10/2017 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Alec is a lean RHP/3B who will graduate in 2019. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.35. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is soft / sure but needs to present more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to increase foot quickness and play through balls more. At the plate he shows a tall / open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. With 2 years to further develop, Alec has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
