Official Scouting Report

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Alec is a stud on the mound with the tools and frame to be the anchor of a staff at the next level, while contributing at other positions. He shows off his huge arm in the outfield to cut down runners trying to advance. He works aggressively to the ball and fields square to keep everything in front and gathers himself well to throw. His square setup and balance at the dish leads to consistent contact as he puts the ball in play to pressure the defense. He is dominant on the mound with 3 above average pitches including a hard running fastball up to 86mph, a sharp 12-6 curveball and a very deceptive change, all of which he commands to all parts of the one. His rhythm and loose arm action, coupled with an easy, repeatable delivery allows him to attack hitters consistently with good stuff and command to put them away and induce weak contact. Alec will be a staple in a rotation at the next level.

10/02/2016 - College PREP - Charlotte, NC Alec is a tall, strong, and athletic RHP who has a promising future on the bump. On the bump, this righty throws a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot and loose/free arm action. He works through a strong balance point and has smooth overall actions. Tempo is quick as he works fast. FB ranges from 83-87 mph with solid arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. Arm speed is maintained on changeup as he shows a solid feel for pitch with arm side run. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Alec has an upside on the mound and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
