Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

07/29/2015 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Telles continues to show as a 3B/RHP and has improved his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond at both positions. At 3B, feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. He moves well laterally, displaying range and shows big play potential. At the plate, power potential is solid as he has strength in his swing. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and works to stay inside the baseball, displaying gap to gap power. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 82 mph. He throws a lot of strikes with his fastball on a downhill plane. Breaking ball is a quality pitch, displaying 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. Alec has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

04/12/2015 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Alec is an athletic 3B/RHP that will graduate in 2016 with a strong lower half and a promising future on the diamond. Currently, he projects best at 3B for the next level. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared / balanced setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path and aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields as he shows a feel for the barrel. At 3B, he defensive abilities are outstanding, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Hands / feet work well through the fielding process and he plays through with momentum to his target. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he presents hands more out front and increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with life and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 78-80 mph with slight cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength, develops better off speed, and throws more strikes. Alec has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
