05/28/2019 - 2019 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Alek is an athletic and talented 2019 Catching prospect. Behind the dish, Alek presents a low target, works behind the ball, and stays quiet when receiving. He has a clean exchange, good footwork, and a quick release when throwing. He leads with his glove when blocking and keeps the ball in front of him consistently. At the plate, Alek starts in a squared stance, gets his front foot down on time, and has a smooth load. His hips and hands work together and he stays balanced through contact. He shows pull side pop and has a pull side approach. Alek will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/27/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures South Alek is a talented young catching prospect who is solid in all phases. Defensively, his quick release and strong, accurate arm led to times to 2B as low as 1.88. He has a durable frame with flexibility allowing him to handle the rigors of the position while showing strength in his hands and a feel for receiving. Alek is also good on balls in the dirt and seems to have the instincts and baseball IQ to be a leader behind the plate. Offensively, he has a quiet, balanced approach that results in a lot of hard contact. He has quick hands generating good bat speed with the result being some explosiveness through the zone and pull-side power. Overall, this is a high-level prospect at a premium position that warrants close following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
