02/17/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Highland Park (DFW), TX Alek continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. He only showed at the plate at the event. Hitting abilities are now outstanding with tremendous power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered.

10/17/2018 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Alek is a lanky and athletic 2020 2-way prospect that worked hard during the Junior Fall Classic. In the OF, Alex is on time with his prep step, he anticipates the ball off the bat, and fields the ball in front of his body. He creates angles and creates momentum in his lower half when throwing the ball. He needs to continue to be aggressive to the ball and not drift to the spot. At the plate, Alex loads his hands back into the drive position and gets his front foot down on time. He hits of a firm front side, keeps a middle approach, and stays balanced through contact. He needs to continue to hunt the fastball and create backside rotation with his lower half. On the bump, Alex gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends thru his delivery. He has good tempo and works downhill. His fastball tops out at 88 mph, he has a live break on his curveball, and creates tail on his changeup. Alex will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/17/2018 - College PREP - Highland Park (DFW), TX Alek is a tall, athletic RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.98. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He needs to work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with on line carry and zip (93 mph velocity) to his target. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 84-86 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as the attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. With 2 years to further develop, Alek has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
