07/10/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National East Arca had a solid showing at the event behind the plate. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play at the next level as he shows off his athletic abilities. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with pop times continuing to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament This backstop continues to impress. Behind the dish, actions are quick/clean as he moves well laterally to smother pitches in the dirt. Pop times are now as low as 2.00 as he puts the ball on the bag. With the bat, Alex shows a balanced approach with patience. Barrel is on a short/direct path as he connects and drives the ball on a line. He extends through the zone and uses the entire field. This 2016 grad is one to keep an eye on.

11/16/2014 - College PREP - Davie, FL Alex continues to show his consistency behind the dish in his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. He sits low, stays low, and throws with present carry to 2B. He tracks the ball all the way to the glove and is quick down to block and deadens the ball in front. At 1B, he makes the routine plays with some feel for the glove and is an accurate thrower. Quicker feet and more familiarity around the bag is crucial to his play in the infield. Offensively, he tracks the ball to contact and drives the ball to his pull side. He needs to become more consistent with his timing and stay level with his path. Overall - Arca is an intriguing 2016 that has another two years to add strength for the next level.

07/30/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Alex is a natural defender who has an all-around solid skill-set. Behind the dish, he sits in well, presenting a low target. He is a vocal leader and takes charge on the field. Pop times are now in the 2.02 range as he has a quick exchange and puts his throws on the bag. With the stick, this RHH shows an aggressive approach as he's looking to swing once he steps into the box. Barrel delivery is short/compact as he drives the ball with pop. Alex is a determined player who will out work anyone.

01/26/2014 - College PREP - Delray Beach, FL Alex is a 2-way player (C/1B) who has a solid frame (6'0"/200lbs). Behind the dish, he sits in well with flexion and tracks the ball into his mitt. When throwing down to 2B; he has a quick exchange and gains ground toward his target with pop time as low as 2.19. At 1B, he shows active footwork as he gets into a square fielding position. He presents his glove out in front and fields the ball cleanly. At the plate, this RH hitter shows good balance as he stands in tall. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2, turning on it and driving it to his pull-side. He drives his lower 1/2 and generates torque through his swing. Getting back into a loaded position earlier will help to improve timing and contact consistency. Only a 2016 grad - Alex has tools and will only continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
