Official Scouting Report

06/14/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Alex is a lean SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with zip (81 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Alex has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

06/05/2016 - National Tryout - River Forest (Chicago), IL This young 2-way player continues to develop. At the plate, Alex steps into the box looking to take a hack. Swing is level to and through the zone as he squares the ball up and hits line-drives. At SS, he hustles around the GB moving well from right to left. Soft hands gather well as he gets rid of it quickly. On the mound, Alex has sound mechanics and repeats well. He fills up the zone with strikes and commands it well. Alex has a ton of upside and will only continue to see developments as he physically matures and builds strength. He has a bright future ahead of him.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Tiger Town Alex is a very hard worker who gives his all every time that he steps onto the diamond. A leader by example - Alex takes what he coached and applies it quickly. At SS, he has active footwork and fluidly moves from right to left around the GB. He works low (from the ground-up) and funnels smoothly with a clean exchange to throw. Offensively, Chaltin stands in well with a balanced/athletic setup. He has rhythm in his hands and gets into a strong loaded position. He takes a hack, swinging on a level path and driving the ball back up the middle of the field. More lower 1/2 drive (along with overall physical maturity) will help to increase power and will aid in his offensively development. On the mound, this RHP toes to rubber with confidence. He maintains a fluid tempo and repeats his delivery well. He is around the zone throwing strikes with his FB - 52-55 mph. He finishes complete and fields the position well. Added arm strength will come with the help of a long toss program. Alex is a talented player who plays the game the right way.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
