05/18/2014 - College PREP - Long Island, NY Alex continues to work hard to develop his game. At the plate, this RHH shows good rhythm and drives the barrel to and through the zone. He makes the adjustments well and squares the ball up. Behind the dish, he tracks the ball into his mitt and sticks it with a firm wrist and soft glove. He takes good angles around the pitch in the dirt and centers it off his chest. In the OF, Alex hustles into position behind the fly-ball, fields the ball cleanly, and gathers well. He plays through and works in-line toward his target. Alex is a few adjustments away from unlocking his potential.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Alex showed good ability in his latest outing with Baseball Factory. Behind the dish, he showed a good setup and a high arm slot to throw. He was vocal, called a good game and received the low pitches well. Working on his footwork and getting more reps behind the dish are crucial to his development and improvement. Offensively, he utilizes his contact points and went 2-6 in his at bats. In all - Alex is a very good kid that shows a desire to improve.

06/09/2013 - College PREP - Albany, NY Alexander is a 2-way player who catches and plays OF. Behind the plate, Alexander has soft / sure hands, playable footwork, and he looks the ball in. He takes good angles to block, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy from a short arm action to his target. A more square set-up, earlier glove, and a quicker release will help catching improve. In the OF, Alexander has sure hands, he attacks the ball aggressively, and he makes plays. He throws with consistency from a long arm action to his target. Playing more through and using his front side to throw can help OF skills improve. At the plate, Alexander has a square set-up, he tracks the ball well, and he can hit to all fields. Hitting can improve with a more level swing, more extension through, and more lower 1/2.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
