Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

10/17/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Washington, DC Alex is an athletic OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2023. In the field, Alex shows fluid footwork and is agile covering ground. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate/on-line to his target. Long tossing can help Alex build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He shows smooth rhythm and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a level swing and produces solid line drives to his pull side. Alex can create more consistent contact by keeping his hands raised during his load. On the mound, Alex gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and finishes with a controlled landing. Alex operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph. Breaking ball shows good 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 67-68mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Driving his lower half more can help Alex increase his pitch velocity. Overall, Alex is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

05/20/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Gambrills, MD Alex is a young, thin, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Alex has active feet, soft hands, and he fields the baseball athletically. He has plus actions, a clean exchange, and a short/accurate arm with momentum toward his target. On the mound, Alex stands over the rubber well balanced, he separates on time, and has a controlled landing toward home plate. Offensively, Alex has a tall/open stance, he loads well, and has a middle of the field approach. He swings aggressively, and puts the bat on the ball consistently. Alex will continue to improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
