Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/OFPosition Projection

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Alex is a hard working 2020 2B/OF prospect who will do whatever it takes to improve. He has advanced bat to ball ability as he works on a short path to square up any pitch thrown to him. He loads to a stacked position and he is smooth to launch with centered balance throughout his swing. He gets on plane early with the bat and makes consistent contact with the ability to use all fields for base hits. In the field, he fields square to the ball, working from the ground up to make plays cleanly. He has a clean exchange to throw and shows good accuracy to his target. Implementing a long toss program will improve arm strength moving forward. Alex is an interesting prospect we look forward to continue watching.

08/08/2017 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Alex is a young, 2-way player who plays 2B and OF. In the OF he has quick footwork and hustles to fly-balls hit to his right and left. Alex tracks well, attacks GB's aggressively, and throws with a high 3/4 arm slot to his cut-off man. Abilities in the OF can get better if Alex can sure up his routes, quicken his release, and increase his arm strength. At 2nd base, Alex centers the ball through an athletic fielding position. He makes plays consistently and throws with consistency to 1st base. At the plate, Alex has a closed set-up, a still head, and a level stick. He loads well, swings in good rhythm, and makes consistent contact to all fields. With a more direct barrel and letting the ball travel deeper into the hitting zone, we could see a spike in hitting numbers. Only a 2020 grad, Alex has skills with still time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
