08/07/2016 - College PREP - Omaha, NE, IA Alex showed only at SS at the event and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved, displaying smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and squares up well with his body. Hands are clean as he presents on time and out front. He shows off his athletic ability on his feeds of the double play. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively.

08/02/2015 - College PREP - Omaha, NE, IA Alex continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities behind the plate and at SS. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.50 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Receiving / blocking skills have improved, showing as playable tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. At SS, feet are active as he works to square balls up. Hands / feet work well together as he presents glove well out front. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more and plays through and continues to increase foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power grades have improved as well through an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through an aggressive approach. Power numbers will continue to improve as he leans to load more and works to utilize his lower half more aggressively.

08/03/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Omaha, NE, IA Alex is a thin, athletic, 2-way player who catches and plays 3B. Behind the plate, Alex has firm hands, playable footwork, and he catches athletically. He works around the ball well,he is quick to recover blocking, and he throws with a short / loose arm to 2nd base. At 3rd base, Alex showed active footwork, he keeps the ball in front of his body, and he throws with consistency to his target. At the plate, Alex has a square set-up, a proper load, and good balance. He keeps his hands inside the ball well and can spray to all fields. Alex can improve his overall game with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
