03/01/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Indianapolis, IN Alex continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with his body. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At 1B, he displays smooth / clean actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Feet are active but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Hands are clean but needs present more out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power improving as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

10/13/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Lexington, KY Alex is an athletic 2021 utility prospect. In the OF, Alex has a good prep step he works through ground balls and gets himself into a good throwing position. At 1B, Alex works off the bag well, he starts in a low fielding position, and fields the ball in front of his body. He makes the routine play and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Alex starts in a tall stance, he gets to balance, and gets hits off a firm front side. He's aggressive to the ball and makes hard contact to the middle of the field. Alex will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Alex is a lean, athletic OF who will graduate in 2021. In the OF, he utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 3 years to further develop, Alex has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
