Official Scouting Report

  • 4Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

12/01/2023 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Alex is a 2025 LHH 1B/RHP prospect with a strong, big frame at 6'3" 207 pounds. He moves well on the balls of his feet at first and shows off agile movements and good range to each side. He does a good job of getting in front of the ball and presenting his hands out in front on ground balls. His exchange is clean and he shows off a quick arm action while making accurate throws to his targets. His arm really impresses as he recorded a raw velo of 89 MPH. He is an imposing hitter in the box from the left side, starting in a tall, athletic stance and getting a simple load with a squared stride. He stays on-time to the ball and explodes through the baseball with his lower half. His swing stays on-plane and his bat speed is fast. He has good coordination with his hips and hands and he makes loud, consistent contact. He recorded an impressive exit velo of 89 MPH and reached base in 5 of 8 plate appearances with three singles. On the bump, Alex has good presence and an aggressive mindset. He does well to gather his balance over the rubber and gets on-time separation. His arm action is clean and he has an impressive frontside. He gets good extension on his FB and uses his size well to work downhill. The life on his 87 MPH FB is impressive and will play at the next level. He pitched 3 innings over two days of action and allowed only one hit while striking out 2. Alex is an exciting prospect that we expect to play at the next level!

11/05/2023 - National Showcase - Daytona Beach, FL Alex is a solid, strong 1B who is a prospect on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying excellent hitting abilities with well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents well out front. He utilizes his foot quickness (7.34 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with on line carry (88 mph velocity) to his target. With 2 years to further develop, Alex has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
