09/16/2018 - College PREP - Springfield, MA Alex showed well at SS and at the plate during his last workout with The Factory. Defensively, Alex has good pre-pitch actions, active feet, and a soft glove. He fields in a low/square position, has a clean exchange, and throws with consistency and strength to his target. Offensively, Alex has an athletic set-up, good balance, and a solid hand load. He has fast bat speed, he finds the barrel of the bat, and he uses his lower body. Less overall movements, and a lower back elbow can help hitting grades spike.

06/26/2018 - National Tryout Plus - New Britain (Hartford), CT Alex is a talented shortstop prospect who has a long, lanky build. In the field, Alex plays with effective pre-pitch actions and fluid footwork taking the correct angles to cover a wide range. He moves with agile actions and presents his glove as he fields the ball in an athletic position. Alex has a clean exchange leading into a loose, quick arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a quick release showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. As a left-handed hitter, Alex has an athletic stance with a centered balance and firm front side. He has a load with a square stride. Alex has a direct swing path and consistently lands the barrel to the baseball. He does a nice job staying inside the baseball. He has the ability to drive the ball to each gap with power. Overall, Alex has skill on both sides of the ball and potential to make an impact at the next level.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Alex is a tall, lean 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he takes good first steps in attacking the baseball. Glove action is soft / clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 3 years to further develop, Alex has abilities with a lot of room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
