12/27/2016 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Alex is a coachable, hardworking player who is willing to make adjustments to be the best player he can be. He has improved his defensive abilities in the OF. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his quick feet well in covering a lot of ground. He plays hard and is not afraid to lay out for the baseball. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. Working to get stride foot down sooner to work on time will aid in improving hitting abilities.

08/07/2016 - College PREP - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Alex continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved, displaying smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, hitting power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively.

11/05/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Alex is a L/L OF that showed strong ability with the glove at his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. In the OF, he got good jumps on the ball off the bat and covered a lot of ground with efficient footwork and foot speed. He was athletic in his actions and showed the ability to play all three positions well. In the box, he was balanced in his setup and flashed rhythm to hit. He was on-time to get to his hitting position and once on base was aggressive and a continuous threat. In all - Alex is an athletic kid that plays the game hard and with continued strengthening will be a strong prospect.

08/02/2015 - College PREP - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Alex is a lean, young OF that will graduate in 2019. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.91 60 time. In the OF, he shows a controlled approach with hands working well out front. Range is a plus as shows solid lateral quickness in covering a long of ground. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he works to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Throws are accuracy but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hands are loose and work inside the baseball as he utilizes all fields. He uses his lower half well with power numbers improving as he adds overall body strength. With 4 years to further develop, Alex has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
