07/13/2023 - National Showcase - Tacoma, WA Alex is a SS prospect who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. In the infield, he starts with a good pre-pitch routine, with active feet, and fields from the ground up. He takes aggressive angles towards baseball with the ability to close distance on batted balls. He fields from a low square fielding position, with his eyes behind his glove, and creates momentum through the baseball. He showed ability to throw from multiple arm slots, with good carry, and an arm velocity up to 84mph across diamond. Shows good glove actions. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance. Shows a lower half driven swing as he hits into a firm front side and is centered at contact. A direct hand path to contact point with a fast barrel through the hitting zone. Hit balls consistently into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 87mph during his round of BP. With another year of development, Alex should have opportunities to play at the next level.

06/19/2023 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Alex continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.38 runner. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with carry to his target. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Alex is an athletic SS who showed as a prospect at the Pre-Season All American Tournament. At the plate, hitting / power potential is outstanding through a closed setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and works through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Hands are firm and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with carry (85 mph velocity) to his target. Alex has a big upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
