07/25/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Alex ran his best 60 to date at 6.99 seconds during his time at the UA Southwest Championships. He is an athletic SS with solid overall skills. Defensively, Alex has quick feet, solid actions, and a clean glove. He takes good angles to the ball, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency and momentum across the diamond. Offensively, Alex has good balance, he loads well, and flashes fast bat speed. He has a direct barrel and can work the ball gap to gap. Alex is a good kid with a positive attitude and solid work ethic.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Alex continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. In the infield, he displays smooth/fluid actions. He has plus lateral range, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws zipping across the diamond. At the plate, hitting/power potential have improved. He has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. A projectable 3B - Alex has lot of potential and will get looks from collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

06/17/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Alex is a strong, athletic built SS/3B prospect who has a versatile skill set and graduates in 2019. As a right-handed hitter, Alex has a tall stance with fluid rhythm. He takes a good load with a long stride and partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Alex does a nice job engaging his hips with effective rotation in his swing. He shows the ability to hit the ball to the opposite field as well as drive the ball to the pull side. In the field, Alex plays with effective pre-pitch actions and gets a good jump on the baseball. He fields the ball in a high position and is developing a quicker exchange. Alex throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a restricted arm action. His throws are consistently accurate with good strength across the diamond. Overall, Alex has a well-rounded skill set with a good approach on both sides of the ball giving him good potential to get even better.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Alex is a lean, athletic SS and has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, feet are active as he attacks balls and squares up well. Hands/feet work well together as he displays smooth/fluid actions. Throws display accuracy but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. With 2 years to further develop, Alex has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
