06/22/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Alex is a lanky, young SS/RHP that will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects best in the SS for the next level. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.30 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in attacking ground balls and playing through well, displaying soft / clean hands. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Rogers shows a balanced approach and loads well. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 75-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Command / control are outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will rise as more arm strength is gained and he works to throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays hard and is very coachable. Alex has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
