02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - West) Alex is a 2022 RHP/3B. Medium frame with an athletic build showing room to fill out physically, making him projectable. Primary Right-handed pitcher, working with a side-step to a belt high leg raise as he stays balanced throughout the lift. Works online to target and does a good job getting extended. Loose arm action as he released from a 3/4 arm slot. Does a good job keeping fastball at bottom of the zone. Mixed in an 11/5 shaped curveball with medium depth. Shows upside on the mound as he still has room to add physically. Secondary 3B, bouncing around as he proved to have lateral range while under control at all times. Clean glove work as he scoops it up with confidence and then shuffles into transfers. Proved he could change arm slots with accuracy as he threw it 83 mph across the diamond. Fits the corner infield mold well while showing instincts during workouts and game. Right-handed hitter, starting an open stance with active hands. Stayed short and simple while utilizing a linear swing path as he proved he could drive it to all fields. Found barrels consistently while impacting the baseball out front. Alex was 4-6 in live game action with 2 doubles. Excellent two way potential and should tap into the tools soon to get him to the next level.

09/12/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Alex is a lean, athletic RHP/3B who will graduate in 2022. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks and plays through balls with his body. Glove action soft / sure as he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball well utilizing all fields, flashing gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed range of 72-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Alex has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
