07/27/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Alex Shipman is a 2016 graduate who catches and plays the outfield. In the outfield Alex has quick and active footwork, has an athletic fielding position, and shows playable range. When he really works through it, he shows an above average arm from the outfield. Behind the plate Alex continues to show as a very good catcher. He receives with firm hands, has an athletic and flexible set up, centers the ball when blocking, and has a quick release. At the plate he has an athletic and balanced set up, a sound load, and a squared stride. He uses his lower half well and shows stable balance during his swing. He has a nice fluid swing allowing him to have good timing and he showed a good idea at the plate during the games. He was 4 for 9 with a couple extra base hits and 3 runs driven in during the camp. Alex has a great attitude and wants to learn. With his athleticism he will only get stronger with age.
