12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Alex continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities at the Pirate City Christmas tournament. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Glove action is firm and presents out front. He attacks ball, plays through with his body and utilizes his foot quickness (6.87 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate and carry (82 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work on plane to the ball. He has strength and shows a feel the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side. Once on base, he uses his foot speed well in taking the extra base. On the mound, he works through a quick tempo. Fastball shows a range of 75-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Slider is harder with tight spin and short break. He is poised and shows a good mound presence. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/22/2023 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Dallas, TX Alex is an OF/RHP who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame athletic build with strength throughout. Ran his 60-yard dash in 6.9 seconds. In the OF, shows good agility with fluid/efficient feet. Good 1st step reads enable him to create good fielding angles. 1 hand catch, with active feet, and creates momentum to target. Fields from a square fielding position, with a clean exchange, and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Good carry on his throws into infield with an arm velocity of 81mph. On the mound, he has athletic actions and throws with intent. He picks up target early and throws pitches from the same window. Commands a FB that sits 76-78mph, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball, and a slider from the same release point. At the plate, he hits from an upright and even stance. Creates leverage, with some quickness to hands, and showed a good bat angle through hitting zone. He gets on-plane early as he hit line drives into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 84mph. With another year of growth and development, we foresee this 2-way player having a bright future on the baseball field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
