Alex is an athletic SS that will graduate in 2015. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.42 60 time. Feet are active as he works to square balls up and looks balls in, displaying clean hands. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to attack ground balls more, stay low, and present hands more out front. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Walton shows a squared, athletic setup with balance and tracks the ball well. Hands are loose / smooth and he makes consistent contact with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to level out swing path and improve bat speed. With 2 years to further develop, Alex has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he improves.
