12/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Alex is an athletic, 2-way player who worked hard on his skills during his time in Pirate City. He is coachable and makes adjustments quickly. As a hitter, Warner stands in with a square setup and wide base. He has a great eye for the zone, drawing 3 walks at the event. He tracks pitches into the zone, barrels the ball up and connects with strength (going 3 for 5 with 3 singles). Behind the dish, he sits in well with flexion and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. He works hard laterally around pitches in the dirt and works to center the ball. Continuing to develop his lateral quickness will aid in his development (blocking). Throws to 2B are accurate coming from a clean exchange. On the mound, this righty has a repeatable delivery from where he throws a ton of strikes. Separation is smooth as he stays directional toward the plate. FB tops out at 75 mph. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with good action when he stays on top. Finishing out in front with more extension will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. Only a 2020 grad - Alex has a solid skill-set with a ton of upside.
