03/11/2018 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Alex showed well at both positions and at the plate in Bel Air. He again showed excellent speed in the 60, as well as athletic actions on the field. In the INF, Alex is quick to the ball, he fields smoothly, and his hands are soft and sure. He makes plays consistently, funnels cleanly, and has a quick/accurate arm to his target. In the OF, Alex is light on his feet, he works behind the ball well, and he plays through properly. He makes plays consistently, and throws with accuracy to his cutoff man. At the plate, Alex has a simple/short stroke to the ball with good bat speed. He swings in good rhythm, stands in well balanced, and can work the ball gap to gap.

10/22/2017 - College PREP - Potomac, MD Alex once again showed very good speed (6.69 60 time), solid defensive skills, and a good approach at the plate during his workout in Potomac. At SS, he has a quick first step and moves lightly on the balls of his feet. He works around the GB from right to left and funnels the ball smoothly. In the OF, Alex takes good angles and covers ground with speed. He secures the ball with 2-hands, has a clean transfer and fires strong/accurate throws into his target. A well-rounded 2-way prospect, Warren can make things happen in a variety of ways when he steps onto the diamond.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Alex is a 2019 SS/OF with great foot speed (6.63 60 time). In the field, Alex uses his quick feet to cover ground and center the ball in the middle of his body. He gets into and athletic position and presents his hands out front to field the ball. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to remain on-line to his target. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride to the ball. He shows smooth actions in the box and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to line drives. Overall, Alex is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

10/16/2016 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Alex continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a superior runner at 6.63. In the MIF, defensive abilities are tremendous as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. He shows off his athletic abilities on feeds / turns of the double play. He moves well laterally and shows big play potential in the MIF. Throws display life, accuracy, and on line carry across the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter with plus abilities from both sides but does project slightly better as a LHH. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. With 3 years to further develop, Alex has the makings of a special type player that will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

07/24/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Alex is a solid MIF who has a ton of upside. Defensively at SS, he shows active prep footwork with a quick first step. He has plus lateral range and funnels the ball smoothly with soft/sure hands to a clean exchange. Continuing to work on his approach to the GB (working around the ball) will help to take his INF skills to the next level. At the plate, this switch hitter currently shows similarly from both sides of the plate. Hands are quick as he connects and engages his lower 1/2 well, hitting hard line-drives. Swinging on a shorter/more direct path with increased bat speed will result in more power at the plate. Warren is a skilled player who is versatile and can play all over the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
