01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament This athletic 2-way player continues to progress. At SS, he has active prep and moves lightly on the balls of his feet around the GB from right to left. Hands are soft as he funnels smoothly to a clean exchange. DP feeds and turns are quick with accuracy on his throws. At the plate, Briggs maintains a balanced setup with a solid base. Quick hands whip the barrel through a level path as he squares the ball up with pop (exit velocity = 92 mph). On the mound, Alexander pounds the zone with strikes. FB still sits mid 80's as he works it in and out. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with tight spin and good depth. He works to keep the ball down in the zone, getting GB outs. Alexander is a talented 2-way prospect who can make things happen in a variety of ways on the diamond.

10/11/2017 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Alexander is a talented/coachable athlete who continues to shine on the diamond. He worked out at both SS and on the mound in Arizona, showing well at both positions. He currently projects best in the INF showing quick/fluid feet, he fields low, and he reads the hops well. Alexander presents his glove, funnels well, and has a strong/accurate arm to his target. On the mound, Alexander works quick, he attacks hitters, and competes in the zone. He has a good arm slot, finishes in a complete position, and gets good extension out in front. Breaking ball shows sharp 10/4 break with good action, proving to be a solid swing and miss pitch. Changeup has good arm side run, complimenting his FB well. At the plate, Alexander shows well from both sides of the plate. He has a solid setup, centered balance, and fast bat speed. He fires the barrel directly to the ball, makes hard contact, and engages his lower 1/2 well. He puts the bat on the ball consistently and battles in every AB. Briggs possesses the skill-set that will translate well into the next level.

07/26/2017 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Alexander continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a tremendous future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are excellent as he displays quick, athletic actions. He uses his athletic feet well in his lateral movements displaying range in the MIF. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. Throws display life, accuracy, and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He shows big play potential in the MIF. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter and improved his abilities from the right side. Hitting / power potential from both sides are now well above average. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) creating bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 85 mph. Fastball showed a range of 81-85 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball is an outstanding pitch, displaying 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. Control is outstanding as well in attacking hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. He has a bulldog mentality on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, works hard, and is a great team player. Alexander has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Alexander continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.95 runner. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved, now showing well above average potential as a RHH. He has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He shows a level swing path. The baseball jumps off the bat (82 exit velocity) when centered with power showing best to the pull side. At SS, he has plus lateral range, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws zipping across the diamond. On the mound, FB showed a range of 72-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He works tall and drives downhill, repeating well and throws strikes with all his pitches. Alexander has the tools that will play at a high level and make an immediate impact.

03/12/2017 - College PREP - Albuquerque, NM Alexander showed behind the plate for the first time at the event. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean / transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 1.95 range. Arm strength is outstanding with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone through a solid setup. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he utilizes his body well in centering balls. At the plate, hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Barrel accuracy is a plus as he makes consistent hard contact.

12/27/2016 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Alexander has a promising future on the diamond. In the MIF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays quick, athletic actions. He uses his athletic feet well in his lateral movements displaying range in the MIF. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. Throws display life, accuracy, and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter but projects best from the right side. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) creating bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He shows good tempo through a repeatable delivery. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 81-82 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball is a quality pitch, displaying 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He shows good poise and competes on the bump. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard on the diamond. Alexander has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

10/16/2016 - College PREP - El Paso, TX Alexander is a thick, athletic SS/RHP who has a tremendous future on the diamond. On the mound, arm strength is outstanding as indicated by his top velocity of 84 mph. FB shows good arm side run through a repeatable delivery. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape, flashing late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters, throwing strikes with all his pitches. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.16. In the MIF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He moves well laterally, covering a lot of ground, displaying range. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. He shows off his athletic abilities on feeds / turns of the double play. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. With 2 years to further develop, Alexander will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
