10/13/2019 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Alexander is a strong 1B prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Alexander shows active footwork and fields with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact to all fields. Overall, Alexander is a talented prospect who should find success going into his junior season.

12/08/2018 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18) Alexander is an athletic and talented prospect that made several adjustments throughout the Mid Atlantic Hitting Weekend. At the plate, Alexander starts in a squared stance and shows power to all fields. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position, create rhythm in his body, and attack the inside part of the ball. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and keeping his head down at contact will allow him to keep a middle approach. Alexander will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/19/2018 - College Recruiting Day - Columbia, MD Alex is a 1B/LHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Alex flashes good lateral range and fields in a square position. He shows sure hands and makes accurate throws to his target. Alex can improve defensively by getting into a more atheltic ready position. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He works to barrel up the baseball and makes solid contact. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Alex improve as a hitter. On the mound, Alex works from the stretch only and keeps his pitches around the zone. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 62mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 52-56mph with 2-8 break. Changeup sits from 59-62mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Alex improve as a pitcher. With three more years to develop, Alex has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
